Role summary
Bechtel seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience executing greenfield and brownfield projects and a proven track record in Mechanical Engineering. The role requires leading engineering teams, overseeing direct reports, and coordinating team deliverables to achieve project goals. You will work with global experts to deliver Energy Transition, Decarbonization, eFuel, Hydrogen Value Chain, Oil and Gas, and Petrochemical projects from studies through detailed design from Bechtel's newly established Middle Eastern hub in Al-Khobar.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering teams overseeing direct reports and organizing deliverables
- Provide coaching, mentorship, performance reviews, and career development discussions
- Plan engineering activities by interpreting scope and applying industry codes
- Manage schedule and cost performance supporting change management programs
- Collect and interpret engineering progress data for project control reporting
- Oversee engineering on medium-sized projects coordinating globally distributed teams
- Lead mechanical engineering teams coordinating with other disciplines and external parties
- Prepare and assist with formal communications to vendors and clients
- Prepare or contribute to conceptual studies, designs, reports, proposals, and estimates
- Review and approve key engineering drawings, calculations, and bid summaries
- Provide technical oversight developing equipment specifications, datasheets, requisitions
- Support construction, startup, and technical resolution of issues
- Maintain knowledge of Engineering Department Procedures and design guides
- Execute work following approved engineering procedures and established practices
- Provide input to scoping documents such as equipment lists and reviews
- Mentor junior mechanical engineers
- Promote work environment fostering openness, trust, and effective communication
Requirements
- Extensive experience executing greenfield and brownfield projects
- Proven track record in Mechanical Engineering field
- Good knowledge of Engineering Department Procedures and Bechtel design guides
- Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Application Programs and administrative practices
- Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, and review detailed engineering work
- Competence in conventional and complex engineering practice
- Capability to provide training to groups within and outside Mechanical Engineering
