Role summary
A physician in advanced specialty training who delivers comprehensive dermatological care through in-person and telemedicine platforms. The role involves managing acute, chronic, and complex skin conditions, supporting clinical governance, mentoring junior staff when required, and contributing to high-quality, patient-centred dermatology services under consultant supervision.
Responsibilities
- Conduct virtual dermatology consultation for adult and paediatric patients
- Diagnose and manage common and complex dermatological conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, infection, hair and nail disorder
- Manage dermatological emergencies and red flag conditions, escalating accordingly
- Develop and adjust individualized treatment plans, including topical and systemic therapies
- Ensure safe prescribing and monitoring of dermatological medication
- Document consultations accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Coordinate follow up care and referrals when needed
- Adhere to dermatology clinical guidelines, ethical standards and telehealth regulations
- Ensure patient safety in all clinical interactions, including medication counselling and adverse effect monitoring
- Report patient safety incident and near misses to the Quality department
- Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives and guidelines update
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge in general dermatology
- Attend CME, workshops and conferences
- Participate in case discussion and academic activity
- Support teaching and supervision of junior doctors when required
- Utilize teledermatology platform for video, image based, and synchronous consultation
- Ensure high-quality dermatologic assessment using clinical images and patient-reported data
- Maintain accurate, secure digital records in compliance with data privacy regulations
- Collaborate with IT teams to optimize teledermatology workflows
- Communicate diagnoses and management plans clearly and empathetically
- Provide counselling on disease course, treatment expectations and skin care
- Address patient concerns and feedback promptly
- Promote adherence to treatment plans and follow up schedules
- Collaborate with consultants, primary care physicians, pharmacist and allied health professionals
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions when required
- Coordinate care for patients with systemic or complex dermatologic conditions
