Role summary
The General Ledger Specialist is responsible for maintaining the financial records for the general ledger, ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting to support the organization's financial stability, transparency, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger by accurately recording and categorizing financial transactions
- Prepare and post journal entries for revenue, expenses, and adjustments
- Reconcile accounts within the general ledger, such as bank accounts, receivables, and payables
- Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits
- Utilize financial software to maintain records and generate reports
- Improve accounting processes for efficiency and accuracy
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting
- Ensure completeness and correctness of financial data
- Update the chart of accounts to align with financial structure and reporting requirements
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the Line Manager
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4 years of experience in general ledger accounting
- Proficiency in financial software and systems
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Requirements
- Knowledge of compliance with safety, health, and environmental procedures is a plus
Education
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
