Role summary
CAD Engineer responsible for programming, operating, optimizing, and troubleshooting 5-axis CNC machining processes for casting die manufacturing, die repair, and precision component production. Requires strong expertise in CAD/CAM software such as Tebis and Mastercam for CNC programming, toolpath generation, machining simulation, and process optimization.
Responsibilities
- Develop CNC machine programs using CAD/CAM software like Tebis, Mastercam and equivalent software
- Generate and optimize tool paths for milling, drilling, boring, and finishing operations
- Create machining strategies for die inserts, punch blocks, trim steels, and die components
- Perform machining simulations and validate programs before release to production
- Optimize cycle times while maintaining required quality standards
- Support new die manufacturing and die modification activities
- Program and machine replacement die components during maintenance and engineering changes
- Collaborate with Die Design Engineers to improve the manufacturability of die components
- Support die tryout and troubleshooting activities
- Analyze machining performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Optimize cutting parameters, tooling selection, feeds, and speeds
- Reduce machining costs, setup times, and tool consumption
- Develop standardized machining procedures and best practices
- Ensure machine components meet drawing and GD&T requirements
- Coordinate with Metrology team for dimensional validation
- Review inspection reports and implement corrective actions when required
- Maintain machining documentation and revision control
- Support CNC machine setup and troubleshooting
- Coordinate preventive maintenance requirements with maintenance teams
- Recommend new tooling, fixtures, and machining technologies
- Support implementation of Industry 4.0 and digital manufacturing initiatives
- Follow all safety regulations and company procedures
- Ensure compliance with quality management systems and manufacturing standards
- Participate in risk assessments and process audits
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Hands-on experience with CAD/CAM software such as Tebis and Mastercam for CNC programming and toolpath generation
- Strong knowledge of 5-axis CNC machining processes, machining strategies, and process optimization
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Experience
2-5 years of experience in stamping die manufacturing, die repair, or precision machining environments
