Role summary
A specialized paint shop expert responsible for precise manual application of paint sealers and structural sealants on automotive bodies. This role ensures complete sealing integrity, corrosion protection, water tightness, noise reduction, and aesthetic compliance according to OEM specifications. Critical for vehicle durability, customer-perceived quality, and long-term corrosion performance.
Responsibilities
- Manually apply seam sealers, hem flange sealers, PVC coatings, anti-chip, and NVH materials on BIW and painted bodies per OEM standards and work instructions
- Ensure correct sealer bead size, shape, continuity, overlap, and appearance in visible and non-visible areas
- Follow defined application sequences and takt times to support continuous automotive production flow
- Use and maintain manual application equipment such as pneumatic sealer guns, cartridges, pumps, and hoses
- Monitor material condition including temperature, viscosity, curing window, and pot life
- Perform visual and tactile inspections to ensure sealing completeness, adhesion, and defect-free application
- Identify and correct sealing defects such as skips, air pockets, excess material, contamination, or poor finish
- Coordinate with Paint Engineers, Quality, and Production teams to resolve sealing-related issues
- Strictly follow EHS requirements related to chemical handling, ergonomics, PPE usage, and ventilation
- Maintain excellent 5S and cleanliness standards in the sealer application area
- Support audit readiness, launch build activities, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Act as a skilled role model, supporting training and mentoring junior technicians when required
Qualifications
- Technical Diploma or Vocational Certification in Automotive, Paint, Mechanical, or Industrial disciplines
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience in manual sealer application within an automotive paint shop
- Proven expertise in seam sealing application and repair, PVC application, and NVH material handling
- Ability to understand OEM work instructions, drawings, and quality standards
- Physically fit to perform repetitive manual tasks while wearing required PPE
- Basic communication skills in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage
Education
Technical Diploma or Vocational Certification in Automotive, Paint, Mechanical, or Industrial disciplines
Experience
2–4 years of hands-on experience in manual sealer application within an automotive paint shop
Skills
- Expert-level knowledge of manual seam sealing and PVC application in automotive paint shops
- Understanding of corrosion protection principles, water management, and NVH requirements; good sealer bubble and bead repair skills
- Ability to read and interpret sealing maps and work instructions
- Hands-on experience with different sealer materials such as MS polymer, epoxy, polyurethane, and PVC
- Strong defect identification capability related to sealing quality and durability
