Role summary
The Sr. Stamping Equipment Engineer will lead planning, installation, commissioning and execution of stamping equipment to ensure efficient and reliable production, delivering world-class products on time, with required quality and cost-effectiveness. Will lead cross-functional teams during design, fabrication, installation and commissioning phases.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and effectively run meetings to resolve issues related to RFQ, feasibility, equipment design, fabrication, installation and commissioning
- Lead technical design and review meetings for building required stamping equipment
- Coordinate all investment stages with suppliers, manufacturing engineering and stamping shop teams
- Create and modify Microsoft Project schedules
- Ensure project team prioritizes tasks and completes them to meet project milestones
- Report project updates to executives
- Understand product design changes and impacts to stamping equipment
- Mitigate risks and recognize optimization opportunities
- Manage internal Lucid customers, assess needs regarding priorities, deadlines and quantities
- Manage on-site installation and commissioning planning with equipment integrators
- Track and manage equipment test runs for standard operating procedure
- Generate RFQs for stamping equipment and vet integrator proposals
- Comply with all environmentally safe practices and regulations
- Develop and execute FAT/SAT requirements for pre-acceptance with integrators
- Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production requirements
- Support vendor selection for all applicable equipment related to manufacturing line
- Manage multiple equipment investments and tasks simultaneously and influence, negotiate and communicate
- Travel 25 percent to visit suppliers in United States and internationally
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or industrial equipment engineering with at least 5 years professional experience
- Technical apprenticeship with 10 or more years of experience
- Experience in project management or stamping engineering in high-volume stamping lines and greenfield stamping environment
- Working knowledge of current manufacturing techniques in stamping environment with servo tandem press lines, laser blanking lines, cranes, scrap conveyor equipment, tooling and metal stamping
- Deep knowledge and experience of mechanical, electrical and automation features for stamping equipment
- Experience working with diverse global stamping equipment suppliers from different countries
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Effective skill in establishing and maintaining working relationships with wide range of individuals
- Strong mechanical, time management and analysis skills
- Capability to work with peers, subordinates, supervisors and management on multidisciplinary team
- Ability to remain current with state-of-the-art technologies and practices related to metal stamping process
- Must have ability to travel internationally
- Proficient with MS Office, MS Project, SAP, AutoCAD; 3D design is a plus
Education
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or industrial equipment engineering
Experience
At least 5 years of professional experience, or technical apprenticeship with 10 or more years of experience
