Role summary
The Director of Design Standards (Facades & Structures) is responsible for establishing, governing, and continuously enhancing the design standards framework for all stadium, arena, and major sports infrastructure projects. This role serves as the technical authority for stadium structures, long-span roofs, building envelopes, façades, and spectator venue engineering systems, ensuring all projects achieve world-class levels of safety, performance, durability, sustainability, architectural excellence, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and govern the Sports Design Standards for stadiums, arenas, training facilities, and associated sports infrastructure
- Establish minimum technical requirements for stadium structures, long-span roof systems, retractable roof technologies, façade and building envelope systems, spectator seating bowl structures, structural resilience and redundancy, building movement and dynamic performance, durability and lifecycle performance
- Act as the subject matter expert for façade and structural systems across all sports developments
- Advise on the design and delivery of FIFA-compliant stadiums, multi-purpose arenas, athletic stadiums, and indoor sports venues
- Support project teams through design reviews, technical governance, innovation initiatives, and independent assurance processes
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline
