Role summary
Carry out welding, cutting, grinding and basic fabrication activities under supervision and in line with approved drawings and work instructions. Support welding repair and fabrication of workshop metal components such as frames, skids, racks, baskets, pipes and plates.
Responsibilities
- Work safely at all times and comply with PPE, hot-work, housekeeping and workshop safety requirements
- Perform assigned welding duties using approved manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
- Follow basic drawings, measurements, job cards, welding procedures and supervisor instructions
- Prepare parts for welding by cleaning, cutting, fitting, grinding and positioning components
- Carry out welding repairs and fabrication on small and medium components maintaining quality
- Complete basic visual checks of finished welds and report defects immediately
- Maintain welding machines, grinders, hand tools and accessories in clean condition
- Support safe handling and storage of welding consumables, gas cylinders and materials
- Minimize rework, material waste and non-conformance by following instructions carefully
- Adhere to Company policies, QHSE procedures and workshop rules
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of welding equipment, consumables, hand tools and safety requirements
- Basic understanding of drawings, measurements, fit-up requirements and work instructions
- Awareness of weld quality, defect reporting, housekeeping and safe material handling
- Basic GMAW/MIG and/or SMAW/Stick welding capability under supervision
- Ability to use grinders, cutting tools, measuring tape, squares and calipers
- Ability to prepare, fit and tack components before welding
- Basic computer literacy for job reporting where required
- Basic English communication skills for reading work instructions and safety documentation
Education
High school, technical institute or vocational school certificate preferred
Experience
2-3 years of hands-on welding or fabrication experience preferred in industrial workshop environment
