Role summary
The Aircraft Inspector ensures the safety, serviceability, and airworthiness of aircraft, engines, components, and appliances. The role involves thorough inspections during all maintenance phases, diagnosing defects, prescribing corrections, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and manufacturer standards. The Inspector approves aircraft return to service and maintains detailed documentation.
Responsibilities
- Implement safety, serviceability and airworthiness standards for aircraft, engines, components and appliances
- Perform initial inspection of aircraft, engines, components, accessories and appliances to determine preservation state and detect defects, malfunctions or damage
- Perform in-process or final inspection of aircraft, engines and components undergoing maintenance to assure compliance with specifications, procedures, quality standards and practices and perform final visual check for completeness
- List discrepancies and conditions or operational malfunctions requiring corrections, adjustments or repairs; screen defects and prescribe immediate correction for any discrepancy discovered during in-process or final inspection
- Determine defects, unsatisfactory and unsafe conditions in aircraft and diagnose causes to identify areas or systems requiring corrective action
- Provide reference limitations if needed for defects or damage found on aircraft
- Perform inspection coverage during component changes, tests and adjustments on airframe and powerplant systems consistent with quality standards
- Perform inspection coverage on compliance of minor repairs, engineering orders, service bulletins and airworthiness directives to satisfy manufacturer, customer and government regulatory specifications
- Review and sign off work accomplishment on all maintenance documents and approve return to service of flyadeal aircraft
- Report incidents and/or accidents pertaining to flyadeal aircraft and equipment
- Maintain aircraft delivery documentation
Qualifications
- A&P GACA Approved license
- Aircraft type qualification with inspection program and processes
- Diploma in aviation airframe and powerplant
Requirements
- At least 5 years of maintenance experience on different types of large aircraft with 10 or more passenger seats with an air operator or certificated repair station, 2 years of which must be as maintenance inspector
- Familiar with GACA regulations to communicate with authority when required
- Engineering drawings and specifications, engineering change notices or established operating procedures
- Report writing and good judgement of inspection related items
- Strong knowledge to handle aircraft in heavy maintenance phase
Education
Diploma in aviation airframe and powerplant
Experience
At least 5 years of maintenance experience on different types of large aircraft with 10 or more passenger seats with an air operator or certificated repair station, 2 years of which must be as maintenance inspector
